Age brings in another important factor - experience.
Younger people are often doing wild and bizarre things because of their desire to experiment and because of the lack of experience. As they age, people know what to expect from each situation and how to act.
Youth is connected to experimentation, wildness and passion for exploration. With each experience gained, a person is less likely to commit the same mistake.
Older people are familiar with many scenarios. They know what the best ways to act are and they feel uncomfortable with once again making a mistake. It becomes more difficult to fall down and start all over from the beginning.
